If you are looking for a safe, natural way to work out, you can't go wrong with running or jogging. People all around the world have been running for thousands of years, long before there were health clubs or exercise machines. In today's age, when people don't get much exercise and have health problems because of it, running or jogging can be a great way to get back in shape. We will be looking at some ways to get the most from running.

When you choose to run for a living, you need to make sure you stick to your plan. Most people have lots of enthusiasm when they begin a running routine, and sometimes they even get overzealous. That's when they usually suffer an injury, like a pulled muscle, and they'll usually stop running for months at a time. This is not the way to get the real benefits of running. The best way to do it is to ease into it and keep going until you reach your goal. If you want to get the most out of your running routine, you will want to run for at least 30 minutes at a time, 3 days per week. It doesn't matter what speed you're going, especially at the beginning of your running or jogging routine. It is always better to go slowly at first and then gently progress rather than push it too hard and quit prematurely. Make sure you never run when you are sick or hurt, but don't mistake that for pushing yourself when you don't want to run. If you usually have a dozen excuses for not running or jogging, such as that you're too worn out or your schedules too busy, then you will probably quit your running routine prematurely.

The best way to begin is to always start off with a slow pace, and then build up from that. Stay relaxed, don't make your stride too long and don't bounce too much. Always take care that you are not leaning excessively in any direction, and just keep your back and body relaxed and erect. If you're jogging and are kind of new to it, it's best to keep your pace no more than your ability to talk while you jog. If your intent is to jog for healthy reasons and enjoyment, then there is no need to run like you're training, and you can get the benefits while greatly reducing the chance of running injuries. Always keep your pace consistent and relaxed from the very start, excluding slow ramp up, to the end and your warm down. Always avoid just stopping your jog from your normal pace to an immediate full stop because that can cause injury.

Important do's before and after running include warming-up/stretching, and then when you're done you should warm-down/stretch. Never run at full speed or high intensity and then just stop cold; you need to take it easy coming down so you can cool off and warm down. So it's really important so you don't experience tightness and injury to begin slow, run, and then slow down before coming to a walk. Then it's a good idea to do some light stretches. You can help take the load off your heart by resting with your heart lower than your feet, or put your feet up, and that will take the strain off your heart and help it to relax.

If you go jogging several times a week, you can get a lot out of it. Remember to use caution and common sense, which means stretching, wearing the right shoes and clothes and not overdoing it. Using these tips will help you maintain a solid jogging routine year round.
