Once you've decided that BOTOX is the right way for you to achieve a more youthful, aesthetically pleasing look, you need to prepare yourself. The best way you can prepare for Botox is to inform yourself on what the procedure entails. They are not complicated or lengthy procedures, so understanding the mechanics and results of a procedure are pretty straightforward. As you prepare to use Botox to eliminate wrinkles or for one of its many other uses, it's important to be informed about the details of the procedure. And to be prepared to let your physician know what kind of results you are hoping to achieve.

Again, the actual day of the treatment is pretty normal. There is no anaesthesia to take and very little preparation required. Normally, you will be sitting in a reclining, dentist-like chair. When you know what you want, it will make the procedure more meaningful for you. You will be an active participant. So, you tell your physician you want to achieve this look, and then they may ask you to contract specific muscles, then he or she will mark the injection locations.

Your Face After the Botox Treatment

The affected area may show small red dots right after you receive the Botox injections. In rare cases, some patients reported instances of minor bruising or swelling. However, any discoloration can easily be disguised with a bit of make-up and will fade within a few hours of the procedure. Since this is a non-surgical treatment, there is no concern at all for facial scarring. A cold washcloth or some ice pressed on the injection site for a few minutes after the procedure will reduce any inflammation.

It's pretty common for doctors to provide some type of documentation to support recovery after your procedure. The Botox will take effect within the first few hours with full results visible within about a week, so be sure to schedule your appointment far enough in advance of an event to enjoy its full effects by that time.

Botox Fees

Getting a procedure done is generally quite affordable, which is one of the main reasons for the procedure's ongoing popularity. Depending on the nature of the treatment, a BOTOX session will usually cost between $300 and $400 per syringe. Compared to other anti-wrinkle injectable treatments, Botox is the most affordable. To maintain results, patients have to repeat the procedure every four to six months.

Are there Any Side Effects?

When Botox side effects do happen, they're usually temporary. They can show themselves within the first week of injection, and can, in some instances, persist for several months. Depending on where you received the treatment, the side effects could vary. For patients with frown lines, the most common Botox related side effects include:

▪ headache

▪ respiratory infection

▪ flu-like symptoms
